Coordination of domestic EU related communication is one of the tasks of the Government Communication Unit.
The EU information counsellors are responsible for communicating to general public the aims and activities of the Estonian Government in the EU, the rights and responsibilities related to EU membership. The EU information counsellors coordinate the network of regional EU information centres and initiate domestic public relations campaigns to introduce the EU related projects, activities and decisions. Support for participation of citizens in EU decision making process is part of the government communication.
In Estonia, the EU related information is made as accessible as possible for the common citizens. Citizens are serviced by various EU information centers and free EU infophone. Two major centres are the EU information centre at the National Library and Eurodocumentation Centre at the Tartu University Library. There are information distributors attached to each of the county governments. Many government institutions also regularly publish information leaflets that are availible in libraries, information centers and other public buildings.
The more specific information is distributed by all institutions whose work involves dealing with the EU. Every citizen has the right to turn to which ever institution that interests him/her and request for additional information.
We are committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible.
