The Prime Minister met today with Swedish Ambassador Katarina Brodin, who will leave the post soon.

The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude to Brodin for her personal contributions toward the development of Estonian-Swedish relations.

Siimann thanked the Swedish government via the Ambassador for the assistance and support to Estonia in the development of environmental policies, defense buildup, and information technology.

"The Estonian economy is doing well and we'll never forget the assistance we have received from Sweden. That will remain in Estonia's history," said Siimann.

According to the Prime Minister, Estonia feels increasingly more secure, but will continue to need assistance, especially in the area of experiences.

Brodin and the Prime Minister also discussed the integration of non-Estonians, the economy and cooperation among the Baltic Sea countries. Brodin stated that relations between Estonia and Sweden are very good.

"Ties between us are very close and special," she said.

Katarina Brodin has been Sweden's Ambassador to Estonia since the fall of 1995.
