Résumé

Helir-Valdor Seeder assumed the office of the Minister of Agriculture in 2007 when the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union, the Reform Party and the Social Democratic Party formed the government.

From 2003 to 2007 Helir-Valdor was a member of the 10th Riigikogu, being also a member of the Finance Committee. Earlier he worked as the Viljandi County Governor for ten years and before that as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Viljandi.

As for his education, Helir-Valdor is an economist – in 1990 he graduated from the former Estonian Academy of Agriculture (today the Estonian University of Life Sciences). Later he refreshed his knowledge on a variety of training courses.

Helir-Valdor likes to spend his free time with his family. He is interested in history and does voluntary work for the National Defence League. He is the leader of a non-profit organisation called ‘Viha ja Viisnurk’, which is a private museum, and is a member of the management of the Sakala Regional Unit of the National Defence League and a member of the Council of Elders of the National Defence League.

Helir-Valdor is married and has four sons.
