Estonian and Swedish prime ministers to participateat the information technology conference in Tallinn.
The Swedish government will sponsor a conference on information technologyin the Baltic Sea region on Tuesday, December 16, at the Sakala Centrein Tallinn. Göran Persson, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ines Uusmann,Transportation and Communications Minister, Leif Pagrotsky, the Ministerof Commerce, Anders Sundström, the Minister of Industry, and MargoWallström, Health and Social Services Minister, will participate atthe conference.
Prime Minister Mart Siimann will give the opening address. Foreign MinisterToomas Hendrik Ilves will give a presentation on the role of Estonia inglobal information society.
A video conference will be conducted between Estonia and Sweden, withtechnical equipment provided by Estonian Telephone and Sweden's Telia.
The two countries' prime ministers will have lunch with Lennart Meri,the President of the Republic of Estonia. After lunch, at about 3 o'clock,prime ministers Persson and Siimann will hold a joint press conferenceat the Sakala Centre.
The press is invited not only to the press conference, but also to theconference which will have presentations on the use and application ofthe new information technology in concrete areas, such as medicine, banking,business, education and public administration.
