Stenbock House, 7 January 2021 – The government approved the draft regulation of the Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aab, which establishes the basis for the payment of support to private general education schools and providers of private hobby education and recreational activities. A total of 4,259,750 million euros is planned for the implementation of the new crisis measures in the field of education. In order for the regulation to enter into force, the minister must sign it.

The target group of the support measure is the operators of private general education schools and providers of private hobby education and recreational activities in Harju County, Ida-Viru County, and all over Estonia. The support measures in Ida-Viru County and Harju County are higher than elsewhere in Estonia because the restrictions in these counties have been stricter.

IDA-VIRU COUNTY AND HARJU COUNTY

The support measure of the operators of private general education schools is 10 euros per student in Harju County and 20 euros in Ida-Viru County.

Providers of private hobby education are supported to compensate for the restrictions with 40 euros per participant in Harju County and 50 euros in Ida-Viru County.

Private providers of recreational activities are supported to compensate for the restrictions with up to 40 euros in Harju County and up to 50 euros in Ida-Viru County.

THE REST OF ESTONIA

Operators of private general education schools
are supported with 10 euros per student.

Private providers of hobby education are supported to compensate for the restrictions with 20 euros per participant.

Private providers of recreational activities are supported to compensate for the restrictions with up to 20 euros.

RECEIVING SUPPORT

The basis for calculating the support of private general education schools and private providers of hobby education is the data in the Estonian Education Information System as at 10 November 2020. To receive the support, an application form must be filled in.

In the case of private recreational activities, companies for which this is the main activity in accordance with the articles of association and which have been operating in the field for at least one calendar year can apply for support. Activities must have been offered to children and young people on a regular basis at least once a week by qualified supervisors.

In accordance with the decision of the government, the applicant cannot receive support from the Ministry of Education and Research and the Unemployment Insurance Fund for the same period. In addition, a provider cannot apply for support from both measures at the same time.

The Ministry of Education and Research will also inform the target groups about the possibilities of receiving support separately.

The regulation of the minister is published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Research.
