30 December 2004

Before the end of the year 2004, the whole world was shocked by the tragic natural disaster in Southeast Asia, where the tsunamis of the Indian Ocean took the lives of tens and tens of thousands.

Allow us to express our sincerest condolences to the relatives of the victims, the injured, and to those who no longer have a home.

We are in mourning with all countries and peoples, who have been deeply affected by this disaster. For thousands of families in the world, the New Year is about to start in mourning or uncertainty. Our fellow citizens are also still missing in the disaster, as well as citizens of our neighboring countries.

The Republic of Estonia will contribute as much as possible into the relief effort against the destructions of the disaster.

On 1 January, the Estonian state authorities are going flow the national flag at half mast. We suggest that all fellow citizens act accordingly.

In our thoughts, we are with all the people affected by this natural disaster in Southeast Asia.
