Stenbock House, 22 June 2015 – Today, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will travel to Brussels to participate in the extraordinary Euro Summit to find solutions for Greece’s debt crisis. “We expect Greece’s government to be committed to fulfilling the agreements and implementing the agreed reforms,” Prime Minister Rõivas said ahead of the Euro Summit.

“We do not have much time; Greece’s government knows what it has to do and when it should happen,” Prime Minister Rõivas said, adding that in his opinion the Greece government does not have any other option than to continue with reforms.

“Greece’s government has to realise the seriousness of the situation,” Rõivas emphasised. “We expect Greece to fulfil the obligations assumed, including repayment of loans.”

“It is possible to continue with the Greece’s aid programme. Greece has to understand that IMF, the Commission, the European Central Bank and the Member States would like to cooperate and are prepared to support Greece. However, this requires willingness to cooperate from Greece as well,” Rõivas admitted.

According to the Prime Minister, Greece’s government could consider restoring trust by fulfilling the programme criteria at an expedited rate.

The Prime Minister will return to Estonia early morning on Tuesday.
