Prince Andrew will pay a visit to Estonia

Stenbock House, 30 May 2016 – Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, will visit Estonia as a guest of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas and the keynote speaker of technology conference Latitude59.


Prince Andrew will participate in the opening panel of Latitude59 together with Prime Minister Rõivas and investor Tim Draper. Latitude59 is one of the most important technology conferences in Northern Europe, bringing international start-ups and investors to Estonia. The main topics of the 2016 conference are virtual country, e-residency, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things (IoT).


During his visit, Prince Andrew visits Pelgulinna Gymnasium, where pupils will demonstrate their programming skills on Raspberry Pi mini computers. He also meets with President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves, visits NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and e-Estonia Showroom.


In Great Britain, Prince Andrew is the patron of business and technology as a representative of the Queen. He is working to enhance growth and promote the creation of highly skilled jobs, and over the past years, he has focused on three main fields: education and skills; business; research, technology, and engineering.


Pitch@Palace, which has been initiated by Prince Andrew, is one of the most popular pitching events for start-ups in Great Britain. On Wednesday, Latitude59 will also host Pitch@Palace Estonia, where nine teams have reached the final round and can present their ideas to a high-profile jury.
