Bratislava, 16 September 2016 – Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas spoke today in Bratislava on the eve of the unofficial gathering of 27 European Union leaders and heads of state and said that the European Union is not lacking in decision-making, but rather in results.

“People in Europe are worried about military conflicts in the vicinity of the European Union, terrorism, a stalled economy, increasing unemployment in many regions and the pressures of migration”, elaborated the Prime Minister, adding that what is expected of the EU leaders is that they find solutions to the real problems.

“If we want to see growth and the continued status of Europe as the most powerful economy in the world, we must remain open. This means free trade, the internal market, associations and digital solutions”, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister stated that today’s summit is only the beginning of discussions focused on security and economic issues.
