Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will participate in the Summit of the Prime Ministers of China and countries of Central and Eastern Europe in Belgrade from 16–17 December.

Initiated by China, the cooperation format between Central and Eastern Europe and China (the 16+1 format) was approved at the foundation gala of the Secretariat in Beijing in September 2012. The Secretariat coordinates China’s cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries according to the so-called programme of the 12th cooperation clause submitted by China in 2012. Today, the areas of cooperation and projects have expanded and cover a broad range of issues from economic cooperation to local government and cultural cooperation.

For Estonia, the format aims to find new ways of cooperation, which would provide an added value to Estonia-China bilateral relations so far.
On behalf of Europe, a total of five West-Balkan countries and eleven Member States of the European Union will participate in the Summit.
In Belgrade, Prime Minister Rõivas will have a bilateral meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang.
Another meeting has been scheduled with Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

From Belgrade, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will depart for Brussels, where the meeting of the European Council will take place.

From the Government Communication Office, Villu Känd (+372 52 75 424; villu.kand@riigikantselei.ee) will be the member of the Prime Minister’s delegation.
