Tõnis Lukas
Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia from 18 July 2022. He is a member of the Isamaa Party.
Tõnis Lukas was born on 5 June 1962 in Tallinn. He is married and a father of two daughters and one son. Lukas became a member of the political party Isamaa in 1992.

- In 2021–2022, he served as the Director of the Estonian Literary Museum.

- In 1999–2002, he was the Minister of Education of the Republic of Estonia.
- In 1996–1997, he was the mayor of Tartu.
- In 1995–1996, he was a member of the VIII Riigikogu and Chairman of the Cultural Affairs Committee.
Education
Tõnis Lukas graduated from the University of Tartu in history in 1987 and defended his Master’s Thesis at the University of Tartu on the same specialty in 1998. He speaks Estonian, English, and French.
Other
Lukas is a member of the Academic Unit of the District of Tartu of the Estonian Defence League. He was awarded with the 4th class of the Order of the National Coat of Arms in 2006.
