“Keit Pentus-Rosimannus has a lot of experience in state governance and finance. She has consistently demanded financial discipline both in the finance committee of the Riigikogu and as the minister of finance. She has also put together three budgets and managed to keep the finances of the state within strict limits during the crisis years. I would be sorry to lose her as our minister of finance, but I believe that she is a very strong candidate for the European Court of Auditors and would do an excellent job there and represent Estonia well,” said Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
Pentus-Rosimannus has more than 15 years of experience working for the state. For nearly six years, she has managed the fields of environmental policy, foreign policy, and financial policy as a minister. As a minister, she has actively participated in the activities of the Council of Ministers of the European Union and negotiations with the European Commission. She holds a Master’s level degree in international law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, USA.
The current Estonian member of the European Court of Auditors is former Prime Minister Juhan Parts. In the years 2004–2016, Estonia was represented by Kersti Kaljulaid.
The European Court of Auditors is one of the five institutions of the European Union, alongside the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, and the European Court of Justice.
The Isamaa government delegation did not support the candidacy of Pentus-Rosimannus.
