The Government of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas assumed office

Stenbock House, 9 April 2015 – The Government of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas took an oath of office before the Riigikogu and therefore, assumed office.


On the Prime Minister’s proposal, the following persons belong to the composition of the new Government: Minister of Enterprise Urve Palo, Minister of Education and Research Jürgen Ligi, Minister of Justice Urmas Reinsalu, Minister of Defence Sven Mikser, Minister of the Environment Marko Pomerants, Minister of Culture Indrek Saar, Minister of Rural Affairs Urmas Kruuse, Minister of the Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Kristen Michal, Minister of Finance Sven Sester, Minister of Public Administration Arto Aas, Minister of Internal Affairs Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Social Protection Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Health and Labour Rannar Vassiljev, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Keit Pentus-Rosimannus.


Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas has mentioned the improvement of the coping of families with children and further development of the environment supporting children’s birth, the strengthening of the security of Estonia, increasing the coping of residents with low wages, the promotion of economic growth and the reduction of labour force taxes, reforming the public and local administration to alleviate peripheralisation, and the preparation of the Presidency of Estonia and its successful conduction as the most important goals of the Government.

The first session of the Government begins today at 14:00.

15:00 – Press conference following the session of the Government in the press room of Stenbock House. The press conference will be attended by the coalition party leaders: Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas, Minister of Defence Sven Mikser, and Minister of Justice Urmas Reinsalu.
15:30 – The beginning time of the meeting of the cabinet.
