U20 European Athletics Championships
The Estonian Athletics Association has received the right to organise the U20 European Championships. The competitions are planned to take place in Tallinn from 15 to 18 July at Kadriorg Stadium. Competitors from 48 countries and their teams are expected to come to Estonia. Almost 1,900 people are involved in the competition together with the athletes.
In order to organise the competition, the Estonian Athletics Association, in cooperation with the European Athletics Association, will prepare a risk mitigation plan. It will be prepared in co-operation with the Health Board. This is an important high-level sport included in the programme of the Olympic Games, the successful organisation of which provides good preconditions for bringing international title competitions to Estonia in the coming years as well.
Triathlon IRONMAN
The IRONMAN Tallinn and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon competitions are planned to take place in Tallinn from 7 to 8 August. IRONMAN Tallinn is the qualifying competition for the IRONMAN World Championships in Hawaii and IRONMAN 70.3 Tallinn is the qualifying competition for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in New Zealand in 2022. The organisers of IRONMAN Tallinn, in cooperation with the IRONMAN Group and the Health Board, will prepare a risk mitigation plan for the competitions. The organisers have experience in organising competitions under the COVID-19 restrictions from the previous year, when a total of 1,964 athletes participated across the competitions. This year, a total of 4,650 participants are expected for the two distances, of whom about 1,200 are from Estonia and 3,450 from abroad. The competition has a significant economic impact. In 2019, competitors arriving from abroad spent a total of 4.2 million euros in Estonia.
Estonian Sports Association Kalev‘s Gymnastics Festival The Gift
On July 4, the Estonian Sports Association Kalev wishes to organise the traditional Estonian gymnastics festival, which takes place every five years, at A. Le Coq Arena. The festival entitled The Gift would be held for the sixth time. There are a total of about 2,800 participants, including instructors and organisers, representing about 100 gymnastics groups. Preparations for the festival started in the autumn of 2019. This is an important event that promotes regular physical activity. The participants have been practising their shows since the autumn of 2020. All age groups are involved: babies, children, young people, adults, as well as the elderly.
Võhandu Marathon
The non-profit association Spordiühing Ekstreempark wishes to organise the traditional Võhandu Marathon in Southern Estonia on 12 June. It is one of the most famous rowing marathons in the world, which first took place in 2006. The nearly 100-kilometre marathon runs along the Võhandu River in Võru and Põlva counties. According to the organiser, up to 1,500 boats may take part in the main distance this year. The starting line is open on the entire shore of Lake Tamula, from the Roosisaare bridge to the end of Võlsi road in a beach area of approximately 1.7 km.
The final concert of the season of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
The final concert of the season of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra is planned for 4 June and is one of the traditional important events of Estonian cultural life.
The Estonia Concert Hall has 973 seats. The organisers wish to allow up to 400 people attend the concert, meaning that the occupancy of the hall would be 40 percent. With this number, the requirement of dispersion has been taken into account. In addition, the audience can be dispersed in the hall with checkerboard seating. There is enough distance between people and everyone is obliged to wear masks.
