Kaja Kallas will meet with the prime ministers of Lithuania and Latvia and visit the Lithuanian-Belarusian border

Stenbock House, 7 December 2021 – Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will take part in a meeting of Baltic prime ministers in Vilnius on Wednesday, 8 December. Joint action on strengthening the security of the region and preventing the hybrid attack by Belarus will be discussed. The discussion will also focus on cooperation in the European Union, common interests in the framework of the climate legislation “Fit for 55”, and regional infrastructure projects. Experience and information regarding the coronavirus will also be exchanged. In the afternoon, the Estonian prime minister will examine the situation on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, where she will meet the ESTPOL 5 unit.

This is the annual meeting of the Council of the Prime Ministers – the highest decision-making body of the Baltic Council of Ministers.

Accredited journalists are asked to be present no later than 11.20 a.m. and submit a coronavirus vaccination certificate with a QR code and an identity document. A mask must be worn at the press conference.

In the second half of the day, Kaja Kallas will head to the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, where she will meet with the ESTPOL 5 team to thank them for their work so far and get an overview of the experience of Estonian police officers. The mission of ESTPOL 5 is to guard the accommodation centre in cooperation with their Lithuanian colleagues and to monitor the border with drones.

At the end of the day, Kaja Kallas will participate in a reception for members of the Estonian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce.

The prime minister will return to Tallinn late at night on Wednesday.
