“Albania is our good ally, whose contribution to the defence of the Baltic region is highly appreciated,” said Prime Minister Michal. “Together, we will work towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and we share the view that Europe must take more responsibility for its own security.”
Michal stressed that Estonia strongly supports Albania’s aspirations for EU membership. “Albania is one of the most advanced candidate countries. Keep reforming – your country and people will benefit the most. If Albania fulfils its commitments, the European Union must do the same,” he said.
Next year will mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Albania. The bilateral relations have been good and grown increasingly close over the years. In addition to existing digital cooperation, the countries can expand their collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence, economy, and the defence industry.
“I was delighted to hear the Albanian prime minister compare Tallinn to a laboratory of the future. Estonia’s experience as a digital country shows that reliable technology can help to reduce red tape and improve public services. In both Estonia and Albania, the vast majority of services are available online,” said Michal. “We both see artificial intelligence as an investment in our future and are ready for close cooperation in this field. Albania already has its own minister of artificial intelligence, and our Eesti.ai initiative will help increase the value of people’s work and stimulate economic growth.”
