The Minister of Culture Signe Kivi meets with high-level Belgian delegation

Tallinn, Stenbock HouseJuly 15, 2002The Minister of Culture Signe Kivi met today at Stenbock House with Hervé Hasquin, the minister-president of the French Community and Jean-Claude van Cauwenberghe, the minister-president of the Walloon region. Signe Kivi gave the Belgian delegation thorough information about the e-government system in Estonia. According to the Walloon region's leader, the Walloon government is also setting up a similar system. Kivi as well as Belgian's top politicians realized that systems similar to e-governments are instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of small communities. "Electronic solutions allow us to compensate for our smallness with higher intelligency," said Cauwenberghe.Signe Kivi and the Belgian delegation discussed cooperation in areas of culture and education as well as the economy.
