Pursuant to the decision of the government, the occupancy requirement concerning indoor activities and events will be abolished in all areas.
This means that engaging in indoor sports activities, youth work, hobby activities and education, refresher training and courses, sports competitions and sports and fitness events, visiting spas, water parks, and swimming pools, organising public meetings and events, including conferences, theatre performances, concerts, and cinema screenings, providing entertainment services, and attending public worship services and other public religious services will be allowed again without the current restrictions on occupancy.
The occupancy requirements applicable to stores and service and catering establishments will also be abolished. However, the requirement for dispersal and disinfection requirements must still be complied with in indoor spaces.
According to the Health Board, the negative impact of the delta variant is expected to be felt in Estonia in the near future. Current estimates suggest that the delta variant spreads about 1.4 to 1.6 times faster than other coronavirus variants. It is predicted that the infection rates will continue to decline for at least a few more weeks, but an increase in the proportion of cases linked to the delta variant may encourage the spread of the coronavirus already in July. Therefore, it is still very important to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to follow the rules for reducing the spread of the infection, such as good hygiene practices when coughing and sneezing, washing hands, etc.
The Government Communication Unit will publish the order and the explanatory memorandum on the website kriis.ee; the order will also be published by Riigi Teataja.
