The meeting will focus primarily on the European Union’s next long-term budget for 2028–2034. Michal and Costa will also discuss continued support for Ukraine, the future of EU enlargement and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness.
“Europe’s next long-term budget must reflect today’s security environment. Europe must invest more in defence, particularly in the eastern border regions, as well as in competitiveness, critical cross-border connections and support for Ukraine,” Prime Minister Michal said.
The meeting will also address the need to maintain support for Ukraine. In this context, it is important to accelerate Ukraine’s accession negotiations and continue increasing economic pressure on Russia.
Following the meeting, Kristen Michal and António Costa will deliver press statements. Journalists wishing to attend are asked to register by emailing [email protected] no later than 12 noon on Monday.
