Stenbock House, 21 January 2021 – In today’s phone call to his Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin, Jüri Ratas discussed cross-border movement and the need to keep travel for work and study between the two countries as open as possible.

‘It is vital for Estonia that labour migration between Estonia and Finland continues. It is important for the economies of both countries. The Estonian Health Board and the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs will provide the Finnish Government with specific proposals on how to make cross-border work and study between the two countries as safe as possible. To this end, both Estonia and Finland should ensure free testing on ships, and they should also share testing results with each other,’ Ratas said.

The Prime Ministers also talked about the spread of the coronavirus in both countries, as well as the progress of vaccination and the need to increase vaccine supplies.

Ratas thanked Sanna Marin for excellent cooperation during his term of office.
