Prime Minister Kaja Kallas today gave a speech at the virtual Summit for Democracy organised at the initiative of U.S. President Joe Biden, where she shared Estonia’s success story in adopting digital technologies to facilitate democracy and ensure transparent and responsible government.

As part of the summit, tomorrow, on 10 December from 15:00-16:00, Prime Minister will take part in panel discussion Protecting Democratic Institutions: Elections, the Rule of Law, and a Resilient Information Space, where she will share Estonia’s experiences in building a democracy.
The discussion will be hosted by Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield and moderated by CEO of New America think tank Anne-Marie Slaughter.
In addition to Prime Minister Kallas, the participants in the discussion include President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema, Nigerian academic and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Dr. Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, Pakistani human rights defender and member of the Elders Hina Jilani, Finnish journalist Jessikka Aro and Ugandan human rights lawyer and LGBTQI+ rights advocate Nicholas Opiyo.
