Support for Ukraine, including the next EU sanctions package and the need to hold Russia’s war criminals to account, will be discussed at a meeting in Riga with Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė. The security of the Baltic Sea region, the implementation of the decisions of the NATO Madrid Summit and preparations for the Vilnius Summit and regional cooperation on energy and transport links will also be discussed.
After the meeting, starting at approximately 11:30, a joint press conference of the prime ministers will be held. Supporting Ukraine and increasing the price for Russia’s aggression will be discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The issues included in the December agenda of the European Council and topics related to defence policy and NATO will also be discussed.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Kallas will take part in a public discussion at the digital policy conference Digital Summit 2022 together with Chancellor Scholz and the President of Bitkom Achim Berg.
