The Paris Peace Forum “Pacte de Paris pour les peuples et la planète” (“The Paris Pact for People and the Planet”) is an initiative launched by President Macron in 2018 that brings together world leaders, international organisations, and heads of large corporations to seek solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Kaja Kallas will participate in a roundtable discussion at the forum, focusing on the protection of critical infrastructure and matters related to cybersecurity. The roundtable will also be attended by Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro, Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, and a number of other public opinion leaders and heads of private companies.
In the second half of the day, the Estonian prime minister will participate in the Christchurch Call summit together with President Macron, New Zealand Special Envoy Jacinda Ardern, and other heads of state and government. Christchurch Call is an international cooperation initiative between New Zealand and France, launched in 2019. It was established after the Christchurch mosque shootings in New Zealand, the perpetrator of which broadcast his act of terror online. Christchurch Call brings together 120 countries, technology companies, and civil society organisations. In her speech, Prime Minister Kallas will focus on ways to effectively use artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity while mitigating the risks involved.
During her brief visit, Kaja Kallas will also meet with French social figures and representatives of think tanks during a working lunch.
