The importance of Singapore and the South-East Asian region in general for Estonia, both politically and in terms of establishing business connections, has grown over the years. According to Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Singapore like Estonia is a small, dynamic and innovative country. “As one of the world’s largest logistics and financial hubs, the whole region is a great springboard for Estonian companies to enter Asia. Global geopolitical developments are also forcing us to better understand developments in Asia – among other things, to explain the impact of Russian aggression on global security in that region as well,” Kallas said.
The prime minister stressed that all of this means that we also need to have a stronger presence in the South-East Asian region. “During my visiti I want to introduce the Estonian business environment, Estonia as a very good investment destination, and Estonian digital and cyber history in Singapore, and to support the entry of Estonian companies into Singapore and the wider South-East Asian market,” she said.
During her visit, the prime minister will also open the Estonian Embassy in Singapore and its Business Hub. “The opening of the Business Hub is an important new and innovative support for our entrepreneurs, sending a message that the Estonian state needs and wants to do more to help its businesses in distant markets,” said Kallas.

On Sunday, 4 June, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will speak at the region’s largest defence conference, Shangri-La Dialogue. During the conference, the prime minister will have a bilateral meeting with Boris Pistorius, the Federal Minister of Defence of Germany and possible meetings with other ministers participating in the conference.
On Monday, 5 June, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will open the Estonian Embassy and Business Hub in Singapore together with Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore. Prime Minister Kallas will also meet with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Prime Minister will also visit the Singaporean company Volocopter and the Tolaram Group, a company owned by Sonny Aswani, Estonia’s long-time honorary consul.
On Tuesday, 6 June, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will participate in the Estonian-Singaporean business seminar, where a memorandum of understanding between the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency and Enterprise Singapore will be signed. The prime minister will also address one of Singapore’s leading technology conferences, Asia Tech x Singapore and have a meeting with Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore and Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information. She will also take part in a roundtable discussion with Singapore's key investors and business leaders and a meeting with the CEO of Temasek Holdings.
