“Our epidemiological situation has seen significant improvement and we have managed to reduce the weekly average of daily new cases to under 100,” said Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. “We can enjoy the summer, but we must not lose our vigilance, because the virus has not disappeared completely. We need to keep in mind the main goal – to keep Estonia free from new restrictions, and everyone can contribute to this, especially by vaccinating and explaining the importance of vaccinating to relatives who have not yet been vaccinated.”
Seven indicators are taken into account when assessing the level of risk. The average number of infections and deaths in the last seven days, which today are 81.1 and 0.9, respectively. There is also the positive test rate, which has remained on a downward trend and is currently at 2.04 per cent. The number of people hospitalised, undergoing hospital treatment, and the number of COVID-19 patients receiving medical ventilation are also taken into account, which today are 6, 80, and 6, respectively. The proportion of infected people with an unidentified route of infection among all infected people in the past 14 days is also taken into account when assessing the level of risk.
The four-tier system of risk levels reflects the epidemiological coronavirus situation in Estonia and provides guidelines and possible activities for limiting the spread of the coronavirus at the individual, organisation, and state level. Green, yellow, orange, and red indicate low, moderate, high, and very high risk, respectively.
At a moderate level of risk, the following recommendations apply: wear a protective mask in public indoor spaces; avoid crowded and confined spaces; if possible, meet with acquaintances outdoors and reduce the number of people you meet. Read more: https://www.kriis.ee/en/when-risk-level-medium
